Description
Magneto Safety Kill Switch Marine emergency cut-off Kill Switch attaches to your life vest while operating a boat or personal watercraft. Designed to instantly cut battery power when detached.
The magneto (red cap) version functions in applications where the circuit is normally open (not complete) with lanyard clip in place on switch. When lanyard is pulled and clip is removed from switch, circuit is closed (complete), allowing grounding to a suitable ground such as a grounding block, the battery, or a suitable area on the engine itself.
The kill switch includes a coiled lanyard that is approximately 15" when coiled and 48" when stretched, which should be replaced if worn, cut, or frayed. Mounting hole is 5/8" in diameter.
Maximum panel thickness: 5/8". Maximum 5A draw.
WARNING: Switch should be tested for proper function before each use.

Marine Safety — frequently asked
- What safety equipment is legally required on my boat?
- Requirements vary by boat length and operating area but generally include a Coast Guard-approved life jacket for each person, fire extinguisher(s) of the correct class, visual distress signals, and a sound-producing device. Confirm the exact list for your boat’s size and where you operate.
- How many life jackets do I need?
- You need at least one properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved life jacket (PFD) for every person aboard, and boats 16 feet and over generally also need a throwable flotation device. Fit matters — a PFD that fits and is worn is what actually saves lives.
- Do marine flares and fire extinguishers expire?
- Yes. Pyrotechnic flares have an expiration date (typically about 42 months) and must be replaced, and fire extinguishers must be within date, charged, and undamaged. Check both on a schedule and replace anything expired — required safety gear only counts if it’s current.
