Description

Mini Battery Selector Switch The 701S is the most compact selector switch available on the market. While BEP recommends isolated battery systems as outlined with our distribution clusters, the 701S provides a simple economical way of separating two batteries.

BEP Marine Battery Switch Test Procedures (UL 1107) Continuous (1 hour), intermittent (5 minutes) and Cranking (engine starting - 10 seconds). The test is to determine the maximum current the switch can handle for the stated time, without the rear terminals exceeding 100 deg C (212 deg F) above the ambient temperature.

The continuous and intermittent ratings are tested at 110% of specified ratings. All BEP switches are tested Independently to this specification by a 3rd party laboratory.

Housed in the same dimensions as the 701, and includes the same removable side plates and back cover Please note selector switches will not separate electronics from harmful engine starting spikes Tin-plated copper studs and nuts Ignition-protected

Electrical — frequently asked

What’s the difference between marine wire and regular wire?
Marine wire uses tinned (tin-coated) copper strands that resist the corrosion salt air causes, and it’s more finely stranded so it flexes with vibration without breaking. Standard automotive or household wire corrodes and fails much faster in a marine environment.
How do I size a fuse for a marine circuit?
Size the fuse to protect the wire, not just the device. Match the fuse rating to the wire gauge’s safe current capacity so the fuse blows before the wire overheats. When adding a new circuit, follow the wire manufacturer’s ampacity chart for the gauge and run length you’re using.
Do I need a battery switch on my boat?
A marine battery switch is strongly recommended. It lets you disconnect the battery for storage or service, isolate a failed battery, and — on multi-battery setups — choose which bank powers the boat. It’s a core safety and reliability component.
