Description
Float Switch w/Cover Part #: 4201-7 Converts bilge pumps to fully automatic operation. Maximum amp draw is 12 amps (at 12-volt D.
C. ) or 6-amps (at 24-Volts D.
C. ).
Features a compact, low profile design that mounts on any surface from a horizontal up to a 24" angle. Incorporates a reliable and affordable mechanical switch that actuates pump motor at 2" water level.
Wire leads do not flex or hinge with the float as on some competitive models. Integral cover dampens bilge sloshing to reduce pump cycling, and prevents debris interference.
Sealed switch mechanism resists moisture, fume-ignition, and electrical shock. Contains no mercury, which is listed as a health hazard and "Persistent Toxic Substance" in over 26 states.
Float switch installs independently or directly onto the rear slots of the V-Series pump bracket. Features a convenient test knob to test pump operation.
Features: 36" Wire 12V and 24V CE Rated Includes Cover

Marine Plumbing & Ventilation — frequently asked
- How do I size a bilge pump?
- Bilge pumps are rated in gallons per hour (GPH), but actual output is lower once you account for hose length and vertical lift. Choose a pump rated well above your expected worst-case water intrusion, and consider a second, higher-capacity pump plus a float switch for automatic operation.
- Can I use regular garden hose for my boat’s water system?
- No. Marine plumbing uses purpose-built hose rated for the specific system — potable water, sanitation, and raw-water/bilge hoses differ in pressure rating, temperature resistance, and permeation. Using the wrong hose causes odors, leaks, or contamination.
- Why is ventilation important on a boat?
- Ventilation clears moisture that causes mildew and rot, and — critically on gasoline boats — clears fuel vapors from the engine compartment before starting. Blowers, cowl vents, and dorade boxes keep air moving through cabin and engine spaces for safety and comfort.
