Description

16/2 Safety Duplex Cable - 500' Features red and yellow Marine Grade™ primary conductors in a white common jacket. ANCOR recommends yellow wire as DC negative because black is the standard color for AC hot.

There have been many cases of people working on their DC systems who have inadvertently cut the live AC wire. Because of the wide spread use of inverters, power generators and shore power connections, even today?

s smallest boats pose a risk of inadvertently cutting into AC wires when working on DC systems. ANCOR Duplex Cables are made to surpass the highest UL Boat Cable standards with ultra flexible (Type 3/Class K) stranding to resist fatigue due to vibration and flexing Features: Outer jacket is made for easy removal and provides the best abrasion resistance available ANCOR's proprietary premium vinyl insulation stays flexible even in extreme cold and resists salt water, batteryacid, oil, gasoline and ultra-violet radiation.

Exclusive insulation is rated at 600V, 105° C dry and 75™ Cwet, and is resistant to heat and abrasion Inner conductors are correctly color-coded to ABYC standards

Electrical — frequently asked

What’s the difference between marine wire and regular wire?
Marine wire uses tinned (tin-coated) copper strands that resist the corrosion salt air causes, and it’s more finely stranded so it flexes with vibration without breaking. Standard automotive or household wire corrodes and fails much faster in a marine environment.
How do I size a fuse for a marine circuit?
Size the fuse to protect the wire, not just the device. Match the fuse rating to the wire gauge’s safe current capacity so the fuse blows before the wire overheats. When adding a new circuit, follow the wire manufacturer’s ampacity chart for the gauge and run length you’re using.
Do I need a battery switch on my boat?
A marine battery switch is strongly recommended. It lets you disconnect the battery for storage or service, isolate a failed battery, and — on multi-battery setups — choose which bank powers the boat. It’s a core safety and reliability component.
